Festa del Vino
March 10-11 2023
After three editions of the Festa del Chianti Classico, we are now changing the focus to this year's Festa del Vino. On March 10 and 11, about ten wine producers from different parts of Italy are coming to The Winery Hotel - the common denominator is that they make wine at high altitudes. Could these be the wines of the future?
Right now, there is a big focus on wines made at high altitudes. Because one of the wine world's biggest challenges today is dealing with an increasingly hot climate. Seasonal weather is becoming more and more extreme, and winegrowers must try to adapt. One solution to maintain freshness and balance in the wines is to move up to higher altitudes. Something many producers try to do - if they have the opportunity. This means that vineyards that no one was interested in until just ten years ago are today among the most sought-after. We invite you to a Festa del Vino at The Winery Hotel with this particular theme.
Sofia Ruhne from the winery Terreno in Greve in Chianti and the wine journalist Åsa Johansson is behind the event.
- We think it is important to shed light on how climate change affects wine production. These are questions we take into account all the time in our daily work at Terreno in Tuscany, says Sofia Ruhne.
The invited winegrowers all work with the same philosophy, just like Terreno, artisanal wines that reflect their origins.
- We place great value on the fact that visitors get to meet the Italian winemakers in person. This is a unique chance to try wines from high altitudes in Italy, and many of the wineries are not represented in Sweden yet, says Åsa Johansson.
Come and meet the producers, taste wines made at high altitudes, eat tasty food and experience Italy at home - welcome!
